InsideOut Architecture has submitted plans to Camden Council for a 27-unit residential scheme in Kilburn.

The proposed development is comprised of two blocks; a street block which houses 4 flats facing Kilburn High Road and a larger courtyard block containing the remaining 23 flats facing onto Kilburn Grange Park.

The subdued material palette of exposed concrete and white textured water-struck brick and a series of related detailing unifies the two blocks to present a cohesive scheme.

The push and pull of various planes on the courtyard facing facades creates drama with shadow while at the same time creating private amenity space.

The park-facing elevation offers a more fractured facade resulting in setback walls and glazing forming angular terrace areas with focussed views of Kilburn Grange Park.  This informal facade would complement the organic edge of Kilburn Grange Park and provide full-height glazing that would mirror the greenery of the park and present various shadows and reflections off the angular walls.

The intention of this proposal is to create an improved streetscape to Kilburn High Road, to provide much needed family accommodation within the area, and to create an environmentally conscious development for Camden.
