“My Lounge” is a design concept for a new type of airport lounge, a more tactile and, perhaps, urban experience. It was developed from an understanding that different personalities enjoy different experiences, and so we sought to create a much different environment to previous lounges under the No1 brand.
My Lounge is meant to be more casual, playful and accessible. It has an informal feel that is embodied in its materials, colours and even its functioning. It is a self-service lounge. As with all lounges though, the overriding aim was to create a sense of place within the generic airport environs.
My Lounge gave us the opportunity to explore a radically different brand experience to No1. Unfinished wood, metal and concrete were utilised to create a stripped-back appearance that also feels curated. Elements of bold colour play off against this natural palette to create features that draw the eye. The expressed grid of concrete columns and bulkheads, along with the Crittall-style glazed screens and timber ceilings, defines spaces such as the ‘living room’, ‘kitchen’ and ‘study’ whilst allowing a sense of connection throughout.
