This exciting new development, sited next to InsideOut’s earlier Cinematographer’s House project in Kilburn, proposes 14 new build apartments built to Passivhaus standards.

Fronting the bustling Kilburn High Road to the West and overlooking Kilburn Grange Park to the east, our design is comprised of two blocks. A street block clad in dark brick to deal with its gritty and hard-wearing street-side location and a courtyard block clad in a light, textured brick to bounce light down into the sheltered central courtyard.

In adopting this progressive method of construction, our clients have commissioned a project tailored to the 21st century.

This project marks an important milestone within InsideOut’s portfolio, as the first of several Passivhaus schemes our practice has worked on from the very initial planning stages through to tender. Our close working relationship with our long-standing client and their exemplary commitment to delivering a high quality, uniquely sustainable development resulted in a successful planning outcome on a very complex site.

I’ve worked with Bianca / InsideOut on two projects and I found that we went through the stages of forming a team, disagreeing, finding our own voice, and reaching an excellent working relationship very quickly. Bianca has always been very patient when I asked questions: either naive questions where I was learning, or otherwise. As a company, InsideOut have also been open to new ideas (eg. Passivhaus, as introduced by us as the client) and I’ve found the journey of the design process to be hugely enjoyable.
