InsideOut obtained planning permission for this 22 unit residential development comprising a mix of unit types, including 3 mews family houses.
The bulk of the accommodation lies in an efficient block next to the street, on the site of 4 existing maisonette units. A communal landscaped deck separates this front block from the larger mews houses to the rear.
The material palette respects the local context while adding some vibrancy amid some uninteresting social housing schemes. A light coloured brick with brown zinc reveals creates a material tactility and tones that work well with the surrounding greenery.
InsideOut worked very closely with the appointed planning consultants on the very complex planning challenge this project presented. A new development of such density on a suburban site like this was not something that Lambeth Council or the local residents were initially comfortable with. Our determination to deliver high quality design coupled with our close partnerships with the appointed consultants and client on this project ensured the team’s success in securing permission at Planning Committee.
InsideOut have been involved in numerous projects with us over the last 15 years. Their versatility and adaptability has meant InsideOut have often been involved from Inception (Pre-Planning) right through to the end of the Rectification or Defects Period. Unlike other Architects who often specialize in Planning or Post Contract Services, InsideOut are strong in every stage of the process.
InsideOut have transformed our initial ideas of Development sites into spectacularly designed buildings. InsideOut are careful to consider the needs of Clients, as well as giving thought to the surrounding area, materials and Buildability. The team’s approach has shown them to overcome Planning obstacles and Construction problems on site. InsideOut have always built successful working relationships with all members or our team.
